NOTICE OF RACE
INTERNATIONAL SAILING REGATTA FOR
OPTIMIST & LASER 4.7
11th – 14th OCTOBER 2018
1.Organizing Authorities
Syros Nautical Club under the auspices of the Hellenic Sailing Federation co-organizes together with South Aegean Region and Syros-Ermoupolis Municipality, International Sailing Regatta for classes Optimist and Laser 4.7.
2.Rules
The event will be governed by:
a)The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 (World sailing).
b) The Class rules (unless otherwise modified by this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions).
c)This Notice of Race.
d)The Sailing Instructions.
e)All competitors shall be required to wear an adequate personal floatation device at all times while afloat, except briefly while changing or adjusting clothing or personal equipment.
f) The language of the regatta will be English. If there is a conflict between languages the English text shall take precedence.
The Sailing Instructions can change some rules according rule 86 RRS 2017-2020.
3.Advertising
3.1 Boats authorized to have advertising must present the permission of their National Authority.
3.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority.
4.Eligibility and Entry
4.1 The regatta is open to boats and to competitors who comply with ISAF Regulation 19 – Eligibility.
4.2 In the regatta can participate athletes who born later than 31/12/2002 for Optimist class and later than 31/12/1999 for Laser 4.7 class.
4.3 Greek competitors shall be in compliance with the Hellenic Sailing Federation rules (valid EIO card). This card must be submitted to the Registration Office at Registration.
4.4. Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form (Appendix 2), and sending it to the e-mail in point 16 not later than Friday 5th of October 2018.
5. Entry Fees
35 € per boat
Entry fees will be paid cash at registration upon arrival.
6.Schedule
6.1 Schedule of races:

6.2 The regatta will consist of single series with 10 races per class. No more than five (5) races per class shall be sailed each day.
6.3 No warning signal will be given after 14:00 on the last day.
7. Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available during registration at the Race Office. Other documents governing the event will be published with the Sailing Instructions.
8. Racing Area
The racing area will be in or out of Foinikas bay in Syros Island (Appendix 1).
9. The Course
The course types will be the Olympic trapezoid and/or Windward-Leeward courses and/or Optimist Class Course.
10. Penalty System
RRS Appendix P will apply.
11. Scoring
11.1 The low point system of RRS 2017-2020 Appendix A shall apply.
11.2 There will be 10 races per class in the single series.
11.3 Discards: When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score is the total of her race scores. When the number of races that has been completed is 4 to 9, a boat’s series score is the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. When 10 races have been completed a boat’s series score is the total of her race scores excluding her 2 worst scores.
11.4 At least 3 races are required to be completed to constitute the regatta series.
12. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authorities and all parties involved in the regatta organization will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with the regatta or the venue that may occur to any person or property whether ashore or at sea as a consequence of the participation of any boat prior to, during, or after the regatta. The Organizing Authorities disclaim any and all such liability.
13. Insurance
For each competing yacht at least a valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of not less than 540.000 € shall be in existence for the entire duration of the regatta
It shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor to have such insurance cover and provide written proof thereof to the Organizing Authorities upon request. Third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 540.000 €. The original document issued by the insurance company must be presented at the registration desk.
14. Support Boats
14.1 Support/coach boats must register the same time as the racing boats at the Race Office and shall fly their national or club flag at all times whilst on water.
14.2 All support boats must present at the registration desk a third party liability insurance with the minimum cover of 540.000 €, original insurance-policy and motorboat driving license recognized by a State authority.
14.3 All the support boats drivers are responsible for their boats and must use the engine’s quick-stop bracelet.
14.4 According to the Hellenic Sailing Federation National Prescription 1, all coaches and other support personnel shall wear personal floatation devices at all times while afloat.
15. Prizes – Prize Giving Ceremony
15.1 Prizes will be awarded to every boat placing first, second and third in each group. The general overall placing in Optimist and Laser 4.7 classes, will not be awarded. Groups are as follows:
-Optimist: boys born after 31/12/2002 (11+), boys born after 31/12/2006 (11-), girls born after 31/12/2002 (11+), girls born after 31/12/2006 (11-).
-Laser 4.7: boys, girls.
15.2 The groups’ results will be taken out of general overall placing.
15.3 Additionally, a prize will be given to the youngest athlete (boy or girl), which will finish at least in 2 races.
15.4 The prize giving ceremony will take place on Sunday 14/10/2018 at 18:30 in Syros Nautical Club’s office in Ermoupolis.

16.2 The Race Office will be next to Syros Nautical Club’s sailing base in Agathopes beach and will be open from 16:00 on Thursday 11/10/2018 until 18:00 on Sunday 14/10/2018.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Accommodation
For all the participants and their coaches the organizers provide free accommodation and food (breakfast, dry food and dinner), for three days (check in 11/10/2018 and check out 14/10/2018 or check in 12/10/2018 and check out 15/10/2018).
